Describe Melody's feelings before the trip to the airport, while she is there, and after she gets home. How would you have coped with the same situation?
One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.

ReplyDeleteMelody was happy and nerves because of the championship in Washington D.C.It say in chapter 28, in paragraph 5 and 6. When she got to the airport her teammates left her at at the airport she felt sad.It say in chapter 29,in paragraph 1 though 3. When she got home she felt like stomping.She also felt sad and mad that her teammates left her at the airport.This means Melody had all different emotions.

I found this information in chapter 28 p.g 124.How she felt when she was at the airport is mad and sad that they missed the flight to D.C. and the team didn't call her .I found this information in chapter 28 the 2nd to last page.How I could coped this situation is when I went to the airport with my mom and the person said the flight was cancelled.
ReplyDeleteWhen Melody was on her way to the airport her feelings were happy,excited,crazy,and nervous because she was on her way to Washington,D.C it says it on pg 250 paragraph 3. While she was at the airport she felt not so good because the lady at the front desk said the flight was cancelled because the weather was bad and the group Melody was suppose go with left her.It says it on chapter 28 pg 257 paragraphs 1 and 2.When Melody got home she she asked her mom if she can put her in bed she was not so happy and she was thinking in her head why didn't they call me? Why didn't they tell me about breakfast? Why can't i be like everybody else? It says it in chapter 29 Pg 262 paragraph 1.We would have felt anger because if someone left me on purpose and did not call me and tell me i would not feel really happy.
ReplyDeleteMelody feels nervous, and excited before she goes to the airport. She also feels happy to be included.It says it in chapter 28 p.g. 253 paragraph 1. At the airport, she feels excited at first, but when she finds out that they left her behind, she feels mad at the team and thinks that they did it on purpose. It says it in chapter 28 p.g. 257 paragraph 3. The feelings she has when she gets home are miserable and sad and upset.I got my information in chapter 29 in the very first paragraph. This means Melody has lots of feelings.
ReplyDeleteMelody felt nervous but, excited before the trip to the airport because she said even Penny can feel the excitement. She claps her hands and Melody said I can't stop grinning. Melody said even though we have plenty of time,I keep wanting dad to drive faster.I'm so afraid that we'll miss the plane or that we forgot my ticket or that I will throw up and we will have to go back home.I found my answer on page 255 chapters 2-3, sentences 2-4. This means how Melody felt before the trip to the airport.While they were at the airport she felt sad when she heard that the flight was cancelled. I found my answer on page 255 chapter 8 sentence 5. This means she felt sad when she got the news.When Melody got home she was so sad she refused to eat lunch so she went straight to bed. I found my answer on page 262 chapter 29

The feelings that Melody had before her and her family got to the airport were nervous and excited.She was nervous that people were going to make fun of her.She was excited because she was going to go to Washington D.C to visit the White House, and to go to their competition. When they got home they felt bad for Melody because she did not catch the flight for her competition.The family was mad because the rest of the team didn't call or text the parents to tell them that they were going to go on the 9:00 o'clock flight when they were going on the 12:00 o'clock.When they got home they were sad, because Melody wasn't able to get to Washington D.C by plane.This information is in paragraghs 26 and 27.This means Melody had different feelings at different times.
ReplyDeleteI think Melody feels happy and exited because she was so glad to go to Washington D.C. Yet she was nervous because she had never gone to Washington, and she has never been on television, as it says in chapter 28, page 255, paragraphs 6-7.
ReplyDeleteWhen she arrived at the airport, they had found out by the lady at the desk that Mr.D had already left the airport along with the team.Melody got very upset when she found out that her team abandoned her.We found our answer in chapter 28, pg.260, paragraphs 1-7.
Melody feels very devastated that she got left behind, and her mom was devastated also, because her daughter was feeling awful.It talks about this in chapter 29 pg.1, paragraph 1.
The way I would handle this situation is that we would distract ourselves, talk about it with a trusted adult, or play music to forget about it.

ReplyDeleteWhen melody went to the airport the flight to Washington D.C. was out of serves and melody group took the other flight and they it to Washington D.C in time.

DeleteMelody is upset because Melody wasn't notified that they were going to Washington D.C. So melody is at home then the teacher calls after they were at Washington D.C So melody's mom got upset because herself and melody were unable to go to the airport and be able to make it

ReplyDeleteLets start of with Melody is a smart kid. She has already been through so much that we can't even begin to know. Then she starts to have an amazing experience in her life. She is about to go to Washington D.C but nope she got left. Her team left her behind and well it was roses fault.

DeleteI know she is smart because she is on the whiz kids team. I know that a lot of people would not be on that team yet Melody has disabilities and is on the team. She is smart.

ReplyDeleteIf I was Melody in the moment that she found out her flight was cancelled i would feel like I didn't have very loyal friends. and I would be angry that my friends and classmates made me miss a very important advent that could change my life, and a great experience.
