Discuss the scene in which Melody confronts the kids on the quiz team. What is satisfying about how she handles the situation? What else might Melody have done?
One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
The thing that is satisfying is that she handled that calmly but she could have been a little meaner. They left her and she is so nice about it it just makes me mad.

I think Melody did a great job controling her angre or disapointment when she confunted the kids on why they left her behind.

ReplyDeleteI think she is really brave and maybe the smartest girl in her team too. She handles it like nothing and forgiving, when it should not be her, it should be the other kids apoligizing. but inside she feels really dumb and disabled, also sorry. this is how its satisfying.
