Name a character and give a description of that character. Tell why you chose the character.
One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
melody she is very smart infact shes the smartest in her class i choose melody because she is very passionate she loves to read and when ever she feels down she figures out a way to make her day better.

The character I have chosen is Melody. Melody feels out of place in a world where nothing works for her. Melody cannot walk or talk because she has a disease. She has the worst symptoms of it. And she hates that snowman named Sydney. She’s very intelligent, but no one knows it. She can’t show anyone how smart she is, because she has that disease that doesn’t allow her to move correctly. Butterscotch is a Golden Retriever dog and I chose to talk about him because he seems really friendly and playful. I like dogs, so Butterscotch is my favorite character. In the book Butterscotch is playful, caring and he always lays by Melody to make sure she doesnt fall of the couch when her parents put her there. He is also very friendly because he likes to play with Melody, and Penny
I chose Mrs. V because she was so helpful with Melody and she showed Melody tons of new things.She also takes care of Melody and she seems very sweet. She was one the first people who held Melody when she was a baby. She is also her neighbor that takes care of her after school when Melody's parents are working.I choose her because she reminds me of my old babysitter.

ReplyDeleteMelody is a girl who doesn't know how to walk, hold things, and what she says/'or said in her mind' that is worst for her is not being able to talk. when she went to dr. hugely and thought she was retarded. because he tried to give her some tests but she filled almost all of them. but he didn't know that she just gave up. and then her mother got got mad at the dr and left then put her in a normel school but she was in a class room she hated! she was in that class for about 6 years i think. then there was a teacher who just did the abc's for like a month and only got to B so Melody screamed and then they called Melody's mom. Then Melody told her mom that all they been doing is doing meaningless stuff. So she got ad then talked to the teacher. And then after that the teacher quit her job. I choosed Melody becases she doesn't but she wants to talk so she trys to tell har frenids and famly.

ReplyDeletei think that Dr.Hugely is mean to Melody because on page 20 paragraph 1 it says he held up eight by ten cards with different colors painted on each one and then told Melody which color is blue. Dr.Hugely said that in a voice that told Melody he thought it was a waste of time. Another way I think Dr.Hugely is mean because on page 22 paragraph 4 he said that to Melody is brained damaged and profoundly retarded.

DeleteI'll be talking about Melody's parents, Melody's dad sounds kind and has a good temper. And Melody's Mom has a short temper. Mostly, her mom helps Melody overcome everyday. Her Mom helps her. Eat, shower, and other. They communicate Melody because on page 7, I think Melody wanted a paintbrush. But, Mom said "no".
