I think two of the the themes are Melody being smart and now she can finally tell everyone because of the Medi-talker. So the themes are Melody overcoming disabilities obstacles, and being brave enough not to give up.

One of the themes of this story is, Its okay to be different, because when Claire and Molly were bullying Melody,it made her feel sad. Another theme of this story is friendship, because when Rose and Melody became friends, no one else wanted to be her friend. The last theme is jealousy because Melody was jealous of Rose's new computer. This means that there are more than one theme to this story.

  3. The emerging themes are jealous, and bravery I think Melody is jealous because Melody parents were having another baby.I know this because I found this information in the text,in the last paragraph on pages 74 and 75.I think Melody is brave because Molly and Claire always are messing with Melody and Melody is brave enough to ignore them.I know this because I Found this information on page 109 paragraph 3.

The themes that are emerging in "Out of My Mind" are jealousy, its okay to be different, and friendship. It says in chapter 14 the second page that Rose is showing off a brand-new laptop computer. I close my eyes, trying not to cry, dreaming of the perfect Melody-made computer. That means Melody was jealous of Rose's computer. Also it says in chapter 5, page 28 that the "special needs" bus, as they call it, has a cool wheelchair lift built in the door, and it picks me up every morning in front of my house. This means its okay to be different. When you look in chapter 11 it says finally, a girl got up out of her seat and walked over to my chair. That is why I chose friendship for a emerging theme. That is why I chose these emerging themes for this story.

The themes that are emerging in Out of My Mind ,is when Melody got jealous of Penny.I know that because in chapter 9 on p.g 78 in sentence 1 it says it sorta sucks to watch a baby do what you want to do.That means she was jealous of Penny.Another theme is friendship when Rose met Melody they became friends when no one wanted to be Melody's friend.I know that because in chapter 11 on p.g 99 in sentence 2 it says finally, a girl got out of her seat and walked over to my chair, she squatted down and looked me directly in the face. Then she smiled.I think the mom is brave because when Melody had to go to the doctor and the doctor asked her questions and she pointed to the wrong thing the doctor said she is not smart and her mom said my kid is very smart.I know that because in chapter 4 on p.g 23 in sentence 8 the doctor says Melody is not smart and Melody's mom said my kid is very smart. This means Melody's mom was brave to stand up for her child..

One theme of this story is friendship because Rose was the only one that wanted to be Melody's friend. Another theme of this story is jealousy because Melody was jealous of Penny because was born without disabilities. The last theme of this story is ,its okay to be different because in chapter 9 it says Penny was born without disabilities and Melody was born with disabilities. Melody is still ok even though she is different. This means that there is more then one theme of this story.

  7. THEMES
One theme that I really want to share is Rose was the only one that wanted to be Melody’s friend. Another theme that want to share is that in the story people were judging Melody and it is not right to judge people how they either look, the way they act, or by how they are made .The last theme that I want to share is no matter how different Melody was they still could have been Melody’s friend .

  29. The themes that are emerging is to except people for who they are. And to not make fun of someone based on how they look. And excepting other peoples learning standards,For example Melody is very smart and she can't show it and some people judge her by that. And she is different from others in her classes and some people can't except that,For example Molly and Claire.

  34. The lessons I learned is that never judge a person by their health issues or by their looks.I also learned that you should respect everyone because you never know how they feel. That is whet I learned from our story Out Of My Mind.

  37. A few lessons I learned was 1:Don't judge a book by it's cover.2:Just because someone learns different doesn't mean there not smart!3:When someone has needs or comes from a different country, you should be friends so they can feel like "REGULAR PEOPLE"!!!!

  38. There are several theme's but this one sticks out for me,and that is determination. Because she is determined to fit in like she's a 'normal' kid. Plus she struggles alot to fit in. And has a short vocabulary and it's very hard for her to speak what's on her mind.

    ReplyDelete
  39. When she go to new classroom . She made a friend named Rose. Rose was nice to her when to anther kids was laughing at her. And Rose told them to stop. And now she taking test like a normal person. But she want to do thing by her self.

  40. Just because hey are different you wouldn't play with them like a book. If you read the cover and it sounds well not nice it dosen't mean .That you wouldn't like the book you should try to read. The book before you put it back to might be a really .Nice or sad or have a lot of action then the other books. You read don't have a lot of action.

Claire cried, waving her hand to get miss Gordon attention Catherine cheats for her! Molly added.
