One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
I'm in chapter 11. Melody likes her school and her class mates. Melody has a new chair that is better than the other one she had.Her filling of Melody is that she is happy in school and her new chair she can finally have a nice little race.

ReplyDeleteI'm on chapter 12, but I'm going to tell you about chapter 3 because it is a funny chapter because the dad when he gets home he goes in the fridge and gets something to drink then he leaves then he goes back to the fridge and gets cheese then when he goes up stairs he goes ''step fart,step fart,step fart, all the way up the stairs then melody cracks up.

chapter 12 by the end of the inclusion program has been added to art and gym classes and wily go to science. me it,s the first time ever gotten to change classes for my life.
ReplyDeletei am reading chapter 22 and in that chapter melody joins this group and they study for a competition for her school. also roses mom brings pizza one day and melody protends like she is not hungry and even in her mind says that without catherine or her mom or Mrs.v she can't eat on her own. she also said she needs to be fed like a baby and if she tries to feed her self she will make a mess. then when her mom picked her up melodys mom asked if she wanted to stop at pizza hut. melody just should her head for yes.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite chapter is the 6th chapter because it said that that Mrs.Valencia was taking care of melody and she said that she was not paying that much attention to her.But then melody graved the monkey and she said that she was happy and that she kept on squeaking it because she was happy and proud of herself.

ReplyDeleteIn chapter 14 mrs.v wins a contest to the aquarium and takes melody penny mom dad and rose.they run into Claire and molly and they talk about how rose s hanging out with a disabled kid on purpose mrs.v gives Claire a talk down they leave and drop rose off melody wonders if melody really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI am on chapter 25 but I haven't had a chance to read it yet so am just writing about chapter 24. in chapter 24 Melody is at the place where the wiz kids from every school meet to see who is the school that gets to go to Washington D.C. At the end of chapter 24 they/ Melody's school has the most points but they still don't know witch school won the finals and gets to go to Washington D.C. If Melody's school doesn't win it is ok for her parents because her parents know she and the kids from her school tried their hardest to win and to go to Washington D.C but I think they are going to win because they have the most points and they have a secret weapon,witch is Melody.

ReplyDeleteI'm in chapter 6 and when Melody has to go to Mrs.V house and when Mrs.V tries to help her learn how to sort of express her feeling and she help Melody to show what she want by trying to point at word that helps her what she wants to say and also Mrs.V takes her out when it's raining so she can feel the rain drops and shows her what her father build and she also give pop to Melody when her parents don't even let her drink it and that's what and after that her parents come to pick her up.

ReplyDeletei am reading chapter 9 and the sad part of that chapter is when the fish died but good part of that chapter is when she was turning 8 and she still rememberd about the fish and then the dad came in with a big box and he could barley carry it and then a puppy popps out of the present and she screams because she always wanted a puppy and then the dog jumps of the box and runs around and goes on every corner and then the dog just pees and the mom had to clean it and then cuddles with the dad and then jumps on Melody"s lap and the dog falls asleep

The part I am at now is Melody`s mom is feeding Melody and her little sister, Penny is playing on the ground and her mom and dad are yelling and her mom is telling her dad to bring down a pink shirt for Melody because she had made a mess on the shirt that she was wearing. ReplyDeleteI am in the chapter 9.Melody had a fish and one day the fish fell out of the fish tank,and the fish was dieng because it needed water to breath. And Melody tried to tell her mom but then when her mom came she said that why did Melody did that to the fish .Then the mom ran to the bathroom, and Melody herd the water .Then her mom came to her room and the fish died.Melody was sad of the fish.But then her dad brougth a huge cage ,then inside of it was a dog ,and Melody was so happy because her dad bought her a dog.
ReplyDeleteI just finished chapter 8 already and that chapter is about Melody has a fish and it is named Ollie,and Ollie swam out of his fish bowl Melody screeched for her mother but she didn't come so she tried to put Ollie back in his fish bowl her mom came and saw Ollie and Melody she quickly grabbed Ollie and put him in the bowl ran upsteires pour water into the bowl but it was too late he died Melody and her mom were sad but then they got a puppy and named it Butterscoth
ReplyDeleteThe chapter i was reading was chapter 8 and about what happend when ollie jump out of the fish bowl and died right in front of meoledy so on her 8th birthday her father brouht her a baby golden retrever so they were thinking hard about what were they going to call puppey and meoledy all the butterscotch traits the puppey had them to so they named the puppey butterscotch and it ended when they both were watching the wizard of oz.
