Describe how the introduction of Penny as a character changes the family dynamics.
One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
I think that Melody loves the idea of having a new sister, but she might be scared that she won't be the special one of the family anymore. She also is watching to see if Penny has the same disability as she has and if her parents will pay more attention to Penny or Melody.

ReplyDeleteI read on, and when melody got the Medi-Talker she was so excited and happy. When she went to school, she bring her medi-talker which made her nervous, but she still don't sit by anyone at recess or at lunch,excepted Catherine.

I think that Penny changed the family because Melody mother and father were not strict before and now they are. And they don't have that much time for her now but they did before Penny came into the family.just like me.

Then melody got a computer that help her talk.

I believe that Melody's family got worse because of penny but mostly because Melody's disabilities and how her parent have to help her hand and foot no matter what and shes jealous of her little sister.

I know this because in chapter 9 on page 76 it says that the parents were having a hard time trying to take care of Melody and Penny.This means that their family changed.
ReplyDeleteThe family dynamics changed,because before Melody's mom had Penny,she was scared that Penny was going to be like Melody.When Penny was born she was very lucky,because she didn't have any problems with her body.This makes Melody jealous.In chapter 9, page 6, and paragraph 2 are the places you can find this information.This means that the family dynamics changed.

Also in the text it says that the mom and dad were having disagreements since the baby was born.On page 80 mom and dad had a heated argument.I t says that mom snapped . This means the dynamics are getting more stressful.
ReplyDeleteThe introduction of Penny as a character changes the family dynamics because when Penny came into the world Melody's mom and dad was arguing of who's going to take care of one and the other.I know that because it says on p.g 76 in chapter 9 paragraph 2 sentence 1 it says witch one are going to take care of we need to agree.That means the family changed.
ReplyDeletePenny's introduction to the family caused Melody's parents to begin arguing and fighting over who was doing more work as well as become exhausted and resentful of one another. Melody seemed happy to have a sister but also a little jealous because Penny hit all of the milestones a child should hit at exactly the right age, while Melody didn't.

ReplyDeleteIn chapter 15 Melody got the a box that talks so she got that and she was talking her dad was filming and her mom was crying and I could tell that melody was happy that she finally could talk
