At the end of chapter 19 Melody says, "I believe in me. And my family does. And Mrs. V. It's the rest of the world I'm not so sure of."
What does Melody mean by when she says this?
One Book, One City for Kids is an annual reading program that encourages all 5th graders in the city to read and discuss the same book. The program also strives to encourage a lifelong love of reading among students, to inspire readers to bring story ideas and themes to life through discussion, and to build collaborative ties between public libraries, school libraries, and area schools. This year the entire city will be reading Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.
I think she means that her family believes that she can be in the team and Melody believes that she can be on the team but she doesn't know if the world believes that she can make the team.
ReplyDeleteWhen Melody says ‘’I believe in me. And my family does. And Mrs.V. It’s the rest of the world that I’m not to sure of.’’ I think she means that everyone she knows believes in her except people like Molly and Claire. People who think how your brain works depends on how your body works.
ReplyDeleteWhen Melody said’s “It’s the world I’m not so sure of” she thinks nobody will cheer her on. Melody might lose on the Quiz Team and Melody might cry and might embarrass herself.
ReplyDeleteI think Melody is saying that since she has cerebral palsy the world thinks she's messed up and that the world doesn't think she can learn. Also since she can't run,speak,or write that's why she thinks the world isn't ready for her and she only believes that her friends and family believe her.

Everyone that melody knows belive in her while people like claire and molly think that she's dumb and can't do anything this is what I think melody means when she says “I believe in me and my family does and Mrs. V. it's the rest of the world i'm not sure of”.

The whiz kids contest will have lot of people and some of them will think that Melody can’t win, or she can’t do it. That’s my thinking when Melody means I believe in me and my family does and Mrs. V it’s the rest of the world i’m not so sure of.

DeleteWhen Melody said that here's What I think Melody means is that other people discourage her. like Claire and Molly they think that she can't do anything like a normal person. like mr D said he assumed or thought but the point is people don't believe in her. people think she’s as stiff as a nonliving thing so that makes her to not know anything. that's not true she is as same as anyone else. so she should get the same respect.

It means she believes in herself, but Melody means the world doesn’t believe in like when Mr. Dimming said “ I don’t this is an appropriate class to be in”. So Melody got so mad she took the test, but Mr.Dimming didn’t think she had it. After the test Mr.Dimming look at her test, and then Mr. Dimming started to be nice to her. What she means by the world is that their Melody because she’s different. Even though she is different from us they shouldn't judge her because she is smart and talented. Melody tries to make friends, but Claire and Molly are always mean to Melody. But she has friend Catherine and Rose, but Catherine sticks up to Melody because when Claire and Molly say something Catherine says something back. Friend are always there for you when you need something.
ReplyDeleteMelody said, I believe in me and my family does but the rest of the world that i'm not so sure of is Melody's statement, I think she said that because she is so used to getting bullied and messed with that she has no reason to believe that people think she is capable of doing more things than just sitting in her chair but to learn like a “NORMAL” kid. So she hope that she has more people that loves her and cares for her except for Mrs.V and the rest of her family. This is really Melody vs the world even Mr.Dimmings Claire and her little puppet Molly. Rose is even starting to shy away from Melody super slowly in a way she think Melody wouldn't understand like she is starting to cut Melody off, result to her other friends not Melody. But at the end of everyday Melody knowns she has mom, dad, penny, Ms.V, Catherine and don't let me forget Butterscotch. So Melody and all of us knows that she will shine her very bright light around anyone she comes around.
ReplyDeleteI think that when Melody said” I believe in me”, is that she believes that she can show the world that she is smart and she can do all kinds of test. She also means that she is not dumb. She can show them that she has a photographic memory and that means her brain is not the worst, but now the best either. Melody just needs the Medi Talker so she can speak to others.

ReplyDeleteWell Melody means that everybody in her family believes her and she is not sure that other people in the world will believe she will be able to talk.But Rose one of her friends use to believe her but now she laughs at her and when Melody wants her to come over she might come but when Clair and Molly comes she acts nervous and might say i saw her so Melody says that because that happen to her and her Friend Rose does not believe Melody.
